My friend has a 2010 silverado 1500 4x4 with the 5.3l lmg engine Was not a problem 2 days ago but started a small fire at back of engine on what causes oil leaking from the oil pan and the rear main seal? He has a pretty bad oil leak (leaves a ~6x2 cluster of drops overnight)

I feared that it may be the rear main seal (since i'd be the one to fix it ), so today i popped out the inspection plug and took a look. The most common areas for a leak in a 5.3 engine are rocker cover gasket, oil pan gasket, oil filter gasket, and oil pump gasket
